Instapaper: Now Even More Useful with Email
I love services I can interact with via email. I can post to my Facebook page via email and I can do the same here. One of my favorite services is Instapaper. I use it to bookmark and save articles to read later, which I often do in bulk on long plane rides.
Earlier this week it quietly added a killer new feature. You can now email in URLs or newsletters and it will save them to your Instapaper account for perusal later. I find this invaluable.
Kudos to Marco Arment for continuing to build out a killer product. This is by far the most valuable service I have added to my arsenal over the last year or so. And it continues to get better. You can get the details here at the bottom of the page.

The emailing option is a really compelling feature! I'm trying to eliminate all but the most essential tools. If you had to choose between Evernote and Instapaper which would you keep? Or are they different enough to use both?
I'm just beginning to test instapaper now. How do you think it differs from Delicious, as this is what I use currently. I post links via email and have an iPhone app to access links.
Instapaper since most of the stuff I want to save is temporary.
James, I use it for saving anything I want to read later. Delicious, like Evernote, is for future archiving.
Hi Steve Thanks for sharing this clever service - as per my previous comment on your blog Ive been in 2 minds re your aforementioned email centric approach to information management so this sounds a more open modern solution which helps others at the same time thru content curation etc - but as always Im open to learn from others especially greats like yourself! Im adding you to my new site blogrole. Cheers MauriceCFlynn
How does it compare to Springpad?
I haven't used Springpad. I found this and stuck with it.
You should also take a look at Read It Later (www.readitlaterlist.com) - I like it's iphone formatting - articles can be viewed as html or text only which strips out all the extraneous stuff. I use them all, - Evernote for archiving, Delicious for sharing links, Instapaper and ReadItLater for short term deferrals.
Try http://parseplz.com too
Love it when I find a tool that really adds to my productivity. Trying Instapaper and liking what I see!
Does anyone know how to add the Instapaper read later button on Google Chrome? I'm stuck.
What I want: Instapaper to e-mail me back the text of the article when I send the URL via e-mail. THAT would be cool.
My favorite use for this feature is to send articles from the NYTimes iphone app to instapaper.
@James Crawford: I'm using Instapaper on Google Chrome without any problem. I just put the bookmarklet link to Chrome's bookmarks bar.If the bookmark bar is not visible, set it from the option menu "Always show bookmarks bar", or simply Ctrl + B.
Nice work Thomas. I didn't have the bookmarks bar active.
@James You're very welcome. Usually I don't have it active, but some bookmarklets are just great :D
