Friendster Relaunches

It was nice to get an email from Friendster today about their relaunch, detailed below. I wouldn't count them out. You never know who can make a comeback today. Just as it's easy for a site to come out of nowhere and dominate, it's equally possible that an existing player can find their footing again. Worth watching...

met my better half on friendster and will always have a soft spot for em. they have a very big presence in the philippines and most of asia, so they will do well. if u consulted them, great job!fyi, my better half says over the past 6 months, filipino and asian friendster users have been lured to facebook by their free apps and games. Hopefully friendster can make their site more lively with games, apps, etc to keep the audience, and continue to grow over time.

Great point, Steve! What's wonderful about the Internet is its ability to reinvent businesses. It's such a dynamic and powerful tool, and there are limitless ways for companies to develop and make themselves better.Friendster made me like the idea of keeping in touch with friends and family online. But I think, somewhere along the way, it morphed into something that didn't work for me anymore: the UI seemed cluttered, it was slow, people's walls were filled with spam... It stopped being the place I envisioned as a touch base for the people who matter to me.If this streamlined email is any indication of the current site design and rewritten policies, then I might just login again to take a look at their (hopefully) reinvented community. :)

Best of luck to Friendster. I felt bad that they tripped up at the beginning juggling around from Java based technologies to PHP. I'll be sure to check them out again. They've sure got a decent sized fight ahead of them.
